Project in Industrial Electrical Engineering and Automation

The project course is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge in one of our advanced courses. Based on the theory in one of those courses, you carry out an investigation, run simulations, build a prototype or make experimental work in our laboratory. The project course is carried out in two formats:

Small MSc degree project: Let the course coordinator know which course or courses you want to associate your project with. You will then be assigned a supervisor and together you agree on a topic. If you have project ideas, these are most welcome. In any case you and your supervisor will formulate the topic together. The project course is often followed by an MSc degree project on the same topic.

  • The small MSc degree project runs in any single study period or over a semester.
  • When registering: Contact course coordinator.

Power system simulation project: The course EIEN15 Electric Power Systems may serve as a preparation for a professional life as power system analyst, daily using computer-based analysis of large power system models. The course introduces the physics and computational methods, but the power system models, and software are primarily simple. For this reason, a project in power system simulation is offered in the project course EIEN30:

  1. Power system simulator is DIgSILENT PowerFactory widely used in industry;
  2. Power system model is NORDIC44 representing the Nordic transmission systems;
  3. Simulations include fault clearing and power system stability.
